PAKISTANI all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has arrived at Hampshire just in time for the Royals’ first t20 match of the season against the Kent Spitfires today.

Razzaq has signed a contract to play in all of Hampshire’s t20 campaign this season and should provide an extra threat with both his right-arm fast-medium bowling and his batting.

Upon arriving at The Rose Bowl, Razzaq said: “I’m very excited to be here. Having played in England in previous seasons, I’ve met a lot of the players before.

“I know Kabir Ali, Rangana Herath, Dominic Cork and others, so I’m aware of the club’s good reputation.

“I’ve just met the rest of the squad and they all seem friendly.

“It’s clear from talking to them that the mood in the team is good and everybody is optimistic.

“I’m aware that Hampshire are seen as one of the favourites to win the competition but, in Twenty20, one player can change a game, so I don’t think anybody is the favourite.

“We’re all as strong as each other.”

Hampshire manager Giles White said: “We’re very pleased that Abdul is here and is ready to play tomorrow.

“We know all about how good he can be with his bowling, his batting and fielding, so he’ll be an excellent addition to the team.

“We’re just looking forward to our match against Kent Spitfires and let’s hope Adbul can make an immediate impression by helping us win the match.”
