Havant's delight at getting a home draw in the ECB Cockspur Cup sixth round has been tempered by news that veteran left-arm spinner Phil Loat has broken his wrist in two places.
He suffered the injury while diving to stop the ball in the field as Havant clung on to beat Reading by one run in the south group regional final.
Loat will miss the tie against powerful Middlesex Premier League club Ealing on July 16 and, with his arm likely to be in plaster for up to six weeks, probably the remainder of Havant's season as well.
"It's a major blow as Phil is a key component in our spin department," reflected skipper Richard Hindley, who had a major impact himself on Sunday's dramatic single-run win over Reading.
Hindley hit 31 and then took 4-40 as Havant successfully defended 175-9 with Richard Pineo (4-35) taking the vital tenth wicket off the second ball of the last over to leave Reading 174 all out.
Ealing, who overhauled Oxford's 231-9 to win by four wickets, are unbeaten leaders of the Middlesex League.
By comparison Havant, Cockspur Cup semi-finalists last year, lie a modest fifth in the Southern Electric Premier League.
The Cockspur Cup sixth round draw includes: Frocester v St Just, Havant v Ealing, Wanstead v Teddington, Brondesbury v Bromley.
