HAMPSHIRE chairman Rod Bransgrove has called for a reduction in Twenty20 cricket next year.
The England and Wales Cricket Board will announce a new-look schedule for 2011 next month following a recent meeting of county chairmen, including Bransgrove, to discuss the structure of English cricket.
Bransgrove has recommended reducing the number of group games from 16 to ten to maintain interest before the knockout stages following a decline in Twenty20 crowds last season He believes a focus on quality over quantity is the answer.
āIād like the season to be designed around a short, sharp Twenty20 tournament during which all the England players are available, probably only for three or four weeks, where we can get overseas players to participate,ā said Bransgrove.
