Former Hampshire player Glenn Maxwell starred with bat and ball as Australia crushed England in the International Triangular Series final in Perth.
The hosts were wobbling at 60-4 after being invited to bat by England skipper Eoin Morgan, but Maxwell – who will play in the T20 Blast for Yorkshire this season – came to the rescue with 95 from 98 balls.
Mitchell Marsh weighed in with 60 and James Faulkner smashed 50 from just 24 balls as Australia recovered to post 278-8 (Jimmy Anderson 2-38).
England’s reply never got going with Maxwell (4-46) the destroyer in chief along with Mitchell Johnson, who took 3-27 as Morgan’s men subsided to 166 all out and a 112-run loss.
