Former Hampshire cricketer Derek Kenway warmed up for his Ageas Bowl return in tomorrow’s Southern Electric t20 Cup final with an unbeaten 63, which secured a seven-wicket win for Burridge at Hambledon.
The new Division 1 leaders chased down Hambledon’s 162 on a progressively low Ridge Meadow surface, writes MIKE VIMPANY.
Jack Lavous (37) and Joe Collings-Wells (35) top scored for Hambledon, with Paul Ancell (3-33) and Geoff Dods (3-42) sharing six of the wickets.
Chasing a third successive SPL century, Burridge opener Shu Chowdhury hit a run-a-ball 34 but it was Kenway’s 63 not out, supported by Dods (24 not out), which saw the cup finalists home.
Archie Norris hit his first Southern Electric Premier League Division 1 century in Sarisbury Athletic’s colours as third-placed Hook & Newnham Basics were beaten by 97 runs at Allotment Road.
Norris hit a six and 13 fours in his 102 and shared a 97-run partnership with Joe Lovett (40) as Sarisbury moved past the 200-run mark.
A pre-tea blitz by Michael Bond (32) and Simon Orr (23), which saw 55 runs added off 35 deliveries, took Sarisbury on to a formidable 265-6 (Ben Thane 3-45).
Ross Hunter (47) responded, but from 88-5 the result was a foregone conclusion.
Josh (26) and Matt Buckingham (28) rallied, but James Ingram (3-19) and Peter Hammond (2-16) cut through the Hook tail, the last four wickets falling for 13 runs.
Hook were dismissed for 168.
Ryan Covey cracked an unbeaten 96 to lead Liphook & Ripsley to a five-wicket win over Fawley, who posted 235-6 (Paul Marks 65) at Holbury.
Mark Thorne (37), Blake Anderson (31) and John Woolgar, with 38 not out, eased Fawley to 235.
But, supported by Jamie Richards (35), Suman Ganguly (30) and Chris Martin (25), Covey’s 96 not out carried Liphook home with 23 balls to spare.
