Portchester’s Andy Webb returned a remarkable 8-14, including a hat-trick, to send Easton & Martyr Worthy crashing to the Hampshire League County Division 1 basement.
The 22-year-old Australian, who keeps wicket for his club side in Melbourne, took four wickets in four balls at one stage of his spell.
Webb, who earlier made 50 with the bat, sent Easton crashing to 40 all out – and a crushing 218-run defeat.
Portchester earlier posted 258-6, with Richard Locke (63) and Blake Barnwell (51) also hitting half-centuries.
The defeat sends Easton & Martyr Worthy to the bottom of the table – a position occupied all season long by Purbrook, who beat Ryde by three runs in a rain affected thriller at Hardings Shute.
Australian Jack Cunningham (113) and Hampshire under-15s prospect Josh McCoy (101) hit centuries as Purbrook made 270.
Chasing a rain revised target of 152 in 28 overs, Ryde finished an agonising three runs short at 149-5.
Late afternoon rain led to five of the nine County Division 1 games being abandoned, including those involving lead pair Ellingham and Waterlooville.
Brett Spicer hit 92 as Ellingham scored 266-8 before their match with Shrewton was called off.
Rowledge and Hook & Newnham Basics’ second teams shared the spoils in a remarkable tie – each side scoring 296 !
Matt McNally (138) and Graham Buckingham (103) hit centuries as Hook squared the match.
McNally was bowled off the last ball of the game, trying to hit the winning run !
St Cross Symondians III enjoyed a comfortable win over Fareham & Crofton, despite giving away another 50 extras.
