Manager Roy Hodgson has made some major changes to his England squad for the friendly against Norway and the opening Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland next month as he reacts to an early World Cup exit.

Here, the Daily Echo takes a look at his latest crop of new faces.

Calum Chambers (Arsenal, 19) Another defender who can play both in the centre and on the right, he moved to Arsenal from Southampton in the summer after playing a major part in the Saints' success last season. Chambers was expected to have a limited role at the Emirates but has started four of the Gunners' five games so far this term.

Danny Rose (Tottenham, 24) The left-back looked to have made his breakthrough at Spurs in the 2011/12 season but was shipped out to Sunderland on loan for the following campaign and impressed in the north east. He returned to White Hart Lane and was installed as first-choice left-back and, despite a foot injury seeing him miss three months of the 2013/14 campaign, he was rewarded with a new five-year deal.

Fabian Delph (Aston Villa, 24) A former Leeds youngster, Delph was snapped up by Villa in 2009 after an impressive season at Elland Road. A cruciate ligament injury curtailed his Premier League progress and he had a spell back at Leeds on loan before the arrival of Paul Lambert at Villa Park in 2012 saw him establish himself as an essential player in the middle of the park.

Jack Colback (Newcastle, 24) Joined Newcastle in the summer in a controversial move after coming through the youth ranks and beginning his professional career at fierce rivals Sunderland. The midfielder got his first taste of senior football with a season on loan at Ipswich in 2009/10 and, after another spell at Portman Road during the following campaign, became a regular for the Black Cats. He has started both league games for Newcastle this season.

John Stones (Everton, 20) The former Barnsley defender has very limited England experience after playing against Peru and Ecuador when he served as a back-up member of the squad prior to the World Cup. Primarily a centre-half but also able to operate at right-back, he signed a new five-year deal with Everton earlier this month after making a major impact last season and looks set for a long career for both club and country.
