FRANCIS Vines is looking forward to Basingstoke Town being in the FA Cup spotlight at Aldershot tomorrow - but says he's no Jose Mourinho!

The BBC will be showing extended highlights of the all-Hampshire second round tie on Match of the Day, guaranteeing Stoke a £13,000 windfall, but manager Vines admits he does not personally relish the TV exposure.

"I didn't like it much when I had to do it with Crawley in the Conference," he admitted. "And for one of the papers to refer to me as the Jose Mourinho of non-League football' is just embarrassing!

"But it's good to raise the profile of the club as much as possible, so of course you want to do it."

Vines had been growing a lucky beard' through his side's Cup run, but he finally got the razor out following the 1-0 Hampshire Senior Cup defeat at Gosport.

Beard or no beard, he remains confident, however, that Stoke can repeat the heroics of the first round when they toppled League One Chesterfield 1-0 at Saltergate.

"We can beat anyone on our day - as we proved at Chesterfield - and this next game is no different," said Vines, who has a full squad at his disposal. "We can beat Aldershot and that's what we're planning to do."

If Basingstoke were to pull off another stunning triumph against Terry Brown's Conference National outfit, they would progress to the third round proper for the first time in their 110-year history.

"The lads are buzzing - and so they should be," said Vines. "It's a chance for them to make history for themselves and the club."

Tomorrow's kick-off has been brought forward to 2pm. The match is not all-ticket and entry can be gained on the day.
