There was an understandable sense of dj vu for Wayne Turk when he shook the hand of Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood following Salisbury City's 1-1 draw at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.

Back in 1989, an eight-year-old Turk was a matchday mascot for a Swindon Town side captained by Calderwood at the County Ground.

"It was a great experience, I've still got a video of it all now. It was against Hull City, Town won 1-0 and Duncan Shearer scored the goal," recalled Turk, a Swindon season ticket holder for a decade before his own football career took over.

Seventeen years after holding Calderwood's hand as the pair led Swindon out at the County Ground, midfielder Turk played a starring role last Sunday as Salisbury earned an FA Cup second-round replay at the City Ground on Tuesday night.

One of only three survivors from the Salisbury side that lost 4-0 at Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup first round three years ago - fellow Cirencester Academy graduate Scott Bartlett and Matt Holmes are the others - Turk is confident of an improvement at the home of the two-times former European champions, where there is expected to be a 4,000-strong contingent from Salisbury.

He said: "It should be a great occasion. It's a massive stadium and we're expecting a 10-15,000 crowd. Our fans will be in the lower tier, unlike at Hillsborough, so there'll be a great atmosphere and we're a better side than we when we went to Sheffield.

"When we got there we just looked at the place and thought what are we doing here?' Hillsborough's an old-fashioned ground with so many memories and history that I think we all just panicked.

"But this time we're better equipped, we've gone up two divisions and like to play our best football away from home.

"The pitch will be better at their place but that suits both teams. If we get Matt Tubbs and Luke Prince on the ball we stand a chance."
