COVENTRY managing director Paul Fletcher has lent his support to under-fire boss Micky Adams amidst mounting speculation his job could be under threat.

Former Saints defender Adams admitted his side had endured a ''bad Christmas'' following the 2-1 New Year's Day defeat to relegation-threatened Leeds at Elland Road - a result which stretched their winless run to five Championship matches.

Prior to the festive season, the Sky Blues had raised hopes they were capable of maintaining a serious promotion challenge but just one win in their last eight games has seen them slip nine points off the play-off pace.

Reports this week claim Adams could face the chop if Coventry lose at League One Bristol City in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

But Fletcher said: ''We have a three-year plan to get Coventry City back into the Premiership and Micky Adams is part of that ''Operation Premiership is our dream and the most important person of all is the manager.

''There's no point in us having a campaign with that sort of timescale and the manager not being part of it.

''Micky Adams was quite happy to commit himself to Coventry City for that period and, despite some results this season and times when I think the team have been very unfortunate, he's doing a good job.''
