The power firm which is sponsoring this year's FA Cup today drew up a team of former electricians and plumbers who switched careers to become professional footballers.

Included in the team were two men with strong Saints connections - Wembley hero Mel Blyth and Dell hardman Jimmy Case.

E.ON said its ''energy eleven'' also included Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce, Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell, Preston legend Tom Finney and would be captained by ex-Spurs midfield maestro Danny Blanchflower.

The side would be managed by Scotland boss Walter Smith, a former electrician.

E.ON also revealed that a number of its workers played for amateur soccer teams in the early stages of the competition, while one of its project managers, Peter Walton, will referee tomorrow's game between Tamworth and Norwich City.
