WAYNE Bridge is ready to play in any position for Chelsea as they look to get their Barclays Premiership title bid back on track with a win against Wigan tomorrow.

The 26-year-old, a full-back by trade, was pushed forward in the midweek Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Wycombe, effectively playing as a support striker in a three-man attack.

He scored Chelsea's goal as they were held 1-1 - only the sixth club goal of his near-300 game career, and his first since April 2004.

The former Saints favourite is likely to revert to left-back tomorrow against Wigan as Ashley Cole is suspended, but he is willing to play anywhere for boss Jose Mourinho.

''I just like to play, whether it's in midfield or up front in a three,'' said the Winchester-born player.

Mourinho has stated that ''club reasons'' have prevented him from bringing players to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window, and other players have been forced to play out of position.

The Premiership champions, however, will have Ricardo Carvalho and Didier Drogba back from suspension as they look to close the six-point gap on leaders Manchester United.

Chelsea defeated Wigan at the JJB Stadium last month before three successive draws allowed United to establish their lead.

Although they beat Macclesfield in the FA Cup last week, the draw at Adams Park on Wednesday highlighted the shortcomings in Chelsea's squad, with Bridge looking for an immediate response following the embarrassing draw.

Chelsea face Wigan and Liverpool before Wycombe make the trip to Stamford Bridge looking for the ultimate cup upset.
