David Beckham's Real Madrid career was brought to a premature end today when coach Fabio Capello revealed the former England captain would not play for the Spanish giants again.
The news comes just two days after Beckham announced he had agreed a five-year deal worth a reported £128m with the Los Angeles Galaxy, and would be leaving Real when his contract runs out in June.
Capello responded to that by leaving the 31-year-old midfielder out of an 18-man squad for tomorrow's match against Real Zaragoza, and then declared that Beckham would no longer feature in his plans.
"The decision of the player is to go to Los Angeles. He is a great professional, but he has such an important contract with another club, and therefore he will train with us but he is not going to play," said Capello.
Asked whether Beckham might leave the Bernabeu before the end of his contract, Capello said: "You will have to ask Beckham that question.
"He must decide what to do until the end of the season."
