Under-fire Coventry boss Micky Adams has left leave the Ricoh Arena after his side were dumped out of the FA Cup 2-0 by Bristol City last night.
The club held a board meeting today to thrash out the former Saints player's future after a winless eight-game streak.
Adams, who took up his post in January 2005, said: "There are players who are playing without confidence and they need to look at themselves - but I've not lost any confidence or belief in what I'm all about.
"This is a time not to be worrying too much about myself."
Adams insisted he would not resign but matters were taken out of his hands by the club's hierarchy today.
Coventry managing director Paul Fletcher said: "Micky Adams is an absolutely lovely guy but it just wasn't working for him.
"He wasn't getting results and that is what he was paid to do. We are all answerable at the end of the day."
