THE Football Association have set an extraordinary 80,000 capacity for AFC Totton's FA Vase final against Truro City next month.
It means that, potentially, the Sydenhams Wessex League super heroes could be playing in front of a bigger crowd than Saints had at the Millennium Stadium for their FA Cup showdown with Arsenal in 2003.
The capacity in Cardiff that day was 74,000 and the official attendance was 73,726.
Considering Totton attract an average of about 100 fans to their Testwood Park ground, talk of an 80,000 crowd for lower non-League's premier cup competition may sound pie-in-the-sky.
But not according to the Stags' assistant manager Sean New who, along with team boss Stuart Ritchie, acting chairman Ian Shields and secretary Jason Tull, met with the FA yesterday and had a guided tour of the new-look Wembley.
To say New was impressed with the £757 million super stadium is an understatement and he has no doubt that the irresistable lure of Wembley will put thousands on the gate.
