AFC TOTTON'S players have been urged to "milk" their FA Vase experience - by a man who's been there and won it.

Three years ago, Eastleigh striker Andy Forbes was savouring the Vase high life with Winchester City in the build-up to their 2004 final against AFC Sudbury.

It turned out to be an unforgettable experience for the former Sydenhams Wessex League club, who triumphed 2-0 in the final with Forbes scoring the 18th-minute opener - his 76th goal of a stunning season.

But while City had to be content with a modest crowd of 5,080 for their big day out at Birmingham City's St Andrews ground, Totton's final against Truro City will be in a different league entirely.

After seven years away from the home of the English football, the Vase final is returning to Wembley on May 13.

And Totton will have the honour of being one of the first clubs to grace the new £757 million super stadium a week ahead of Manchester United's FA Cup final showdown with Chelsea.

Forbes said: "At first I heard Totton had lost their semi-final up at Billingham, but I was delighted when I looked on the Echo website and saw they'd won.

"It's good to see local teams doing so well and shows how strong the league is down here.

"It was a great experience scoring at Birmingham and the Totton boys must really be looking forward to their big day.

"I'm very jealous. It'll be awesome to play at Wembley.

"I might take a trip up there to watch the final, but if anyone from Totton is reading this I'd love to sign for them for one game please!" he laughed.
