AS Wembley fever broke out at Testwood Park on Saturday, even news of a whopping 6-0 victory for title rivals Gosport Borough failed to keep the smiles off AFC Totton's faces.
Although Stuart Ritchie's men now have an uphill task to win the Sydenhams Premier championship, excitement is sweeping through the club ahead of the FA Vase final against Truro City on May 13.
With the Stags' Wembley anthem Go Totton Go blaring out over the loud speakers, there was a sunshine atmosphere for the visit of third-placed VT FC, who had lost just one of their previous 29 league and cup games.
And the sense of occasion clearly rubbed off on Totton's players who raised their game to such a degree in a 3-1 victory that manager Ritchie purred: "It was the best performance we've had for weeks, months - or probably all season.
"We looked really good as a unit and to do that against a side like VT was a good achievement".
Mike Gosney scored twice and Mark Osman once for a Totton side who now face a Wessex title decider at home to Gosport on the last day of the season this coming Saturday.
