SUPER sub Robbie Matthews scored with his first touch to ensure Salisbury have all to play for in Saturday's Conference South play-off semi-final second leg at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.
Matthews' exquisite far-post finish from Luke Prince's left-wing cross earned Whites a 1-1 draw at Bishop's Stortford last night and left manager Nick Holmes a reasonably contented man.
"Hopefully it's a good result, but I'll let you know at a quarter to five on Saturday or maybe even quarter past - however long it takes," he said.
"We played well, we worked hard and, on balance of pressure, I would say we just shaded it, but we didn't make the keeper work enough."
"We had lots of things going just the wrong side of the post.
"It was a first-class performance effort-wise and hopefully we can can do enough on Saturday to take us through, but it will only happen if we put the same effort in again."
Havant & Waterlooville drew 1-1 at home to Braintree, but the match was in start contrast to Salisbury's end-to-end encounter.
"We didn't play particularly well, but Braintree came and did what they're good at," summed up Hawks boss Ian Baird. "They're very organised and they slowed the game down at every opportunity - and, unfortunately, we had officials who allowed them to do it.
"It meant that we didn't play with our usual fluency at home. But this is only half-time and we know we've got to go to Braintree on Saturday and get a result."
