SALISBURY City go into tomorrow's home game against Rushden & Diamonds (3pm) determined to arrest a slump' of two straight defeats.

But, as player-coach Tommy Widdrington pointed out, losing at Histon and Torquay United hardly constitutes a crisis for the newly-promoted Whites, who have totted up 11 points in their first seven games.

"I think Nick (manager Nick Holmes) and I are safe for the time being!" smiled Widdrington.

"Yes, you get highs when you're winning and lows when you're losing, but if someone had offered us 11 points out of seven games at the start of the season I'm sure we'd have taken it.

"In the same way that I said I wasn't going to get too carried away by the good start we had, I'm not going to get too despondent over a couple of defeats. There'll be no knee-jerk reaction or panic buttons pressed by Nick and myself.

"All you can do is look to the next game and bounce back and, as we speak, we're the only team in the league with a one hundred per cent home record, so that's something to take into tomorrow".
