Salisbury City and Rushden & Diamonds have been charged by The FA following a mass confrontation during their Blue Square Premier encounter at Salisbury City's Raymond McEnhill Stadium last weekend.

Both clubs were charged with failing to ensure that their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion, and have until September 25 to respond.

The mass brawl, involving all 20 outfield players, was sparked by a challenge from Salisbury's Michael Fowler on Curtis Woodhouse, which saw Devon referee Andrew Rodda issue both with red cards.

Rushden manager Garry Hill, meanwhile, has been charged with violent conduct in relation to an incident involving Salisbury assistant manager Tommy Widdrington after the final whistle.

Widdrington, the former Saints midfielder of the early-to-mid 1990s, was left with a suspected broken nose.

He has declined to comment on the incident.

Former Weymouth manager Hill has until September 26 to respond.

Salisbury City are at Forest Green tonight in a league game that will be televised live by Setanta Sports.
