THE FA Trophy third qualifying round draw has thrown up another meaty Hampshire derby for Eastleigh.

Having ousted Farnborough from the FA Cup, Ian Baird’s men have been drawn at home to another of the area’s Southern Premier Division sides, Bashley, on Saturday, November 22.

While the Spitfires are just entering the competition, Steve Riley’s Bashley booked their ticket through with a 3-1 win at Yate Town on Saturday, courtesy of two-goal Richard Gillespie and James Rowe. That result banked them £3,000 from the FA prize fund and there is another £4,000 at stake in the next round.

Eastleigh boss Ian Baird feels the draw ticks all the right boxes for his Blue Square South promotion hopefuls.

“The way I look at it, it’s a home draw against local opposition which gives it a bit of added spice and will hopefully pull in a decent crowd,” he said.
