VICTORIOUS VT FC waltzed through to the Hampshire FA Senior Cup final with a 5-0 win at Brockenhurst last night, but they won’t be meeting local rivals Eastleigh on the big St Mary’s stage on April 30.
That privilege will go to Andy Sinton’s Fleet Town, who scored twice in the second half at Calthorpe Park to sink a young Spitfires team made up of reserve and academy players plus first-team striker Matt Groves and goalkeeping coach Gareth Howells.
“I’d prefer to have played Eastleigh because that’s the final everyone wanted to see locally,” admitted VT boss Dave Diaper.
