WARREN Hunt is ready to spearhead VT FC’s assault on the BGB Southern League Division 1 South & West next season.
The former Pompey marksman – top Sydenhams Premier scorer last term with 39 SWL/League Cup goals – has signed a contract committing himself to the newly-promoted Portsmouth Road club for another two years.
It comes just days after talks with Ian Baird’s Eastleigh, who were considering offering him the chance to earn a Blue Square South contract.
Admitting he had upped Hunt’s wages to keep the striker on board, VT boss Dave Diaper said: “It’s been a difficult one given the current financial climate. Times are hard and the only person to win out of this is Warren Hunt.
“But Warren has earned his extra contract based on his work-rate as well as his goal scoring.
“If there’s one player I don’t begrudge the additional fee, it’s Warren. He fully deserves it.
“He’s committed his future to us now, which is really good.”
