THE Sydenhams Wessex League’s six FA Vase survivors steered clear of the competition favourites in today’s fourth round draw.

With snow playing havoc with Saturday’s third round fixtures, only one of the 32 scheduled matches was played, leaving the Wessex contingent – Bemerton, Bournemouth, Moneyfields, Newport IoW, Poole and Verwood – facing rearranged ties this week.

But they will be relieved to know that if they win through their respective matches, they will not have to face either of the 4-1 joint Vase favourites, St Neots Town and Spennymoor Town, or the holders Whitley Bay in the fourth round on January 22.
