Eastleigh’s Tony Taggart grabbed a dramatic 88th minute equaliser to deny Sutton United boss Paul Doswell a win on his return to the Silverlake Stadium on Saturday.
Having held the lead since the fifth minute, Ryman Premier leaders Sutton were forced to a Tuesday night replay at Gander Green Lane (7.45).
The Spitfires were dealt a pre-match blow when skipper Tom Jordan was sick in the warm-up and had to pull out. Ross Bottomley stepped into the breech.
Sutton included two ex-Eastleigh players in their starting line-up with Karim El Salahi skippering the Us and Andy Forbes – on loan from Woking – selected up front.
Two other ex-Spitfires, Karl Murray and popular keeper Wayne Shaw, were named on the bench.
