THINGS just keep on getting better and better for FA Cup heroes AFC Totton.

With the excitement of Saturday’s 8-1 Bradford Park Avenue bonanza still fresh in their memories, the Mighty Stags climbed back into second spot in the Southern Premier Division last night with a 3-1 victory at Frome Town.

It puts them two points behind new league leaders Brackley Town - 3-2 winners at Cambridge City on Tuesday - with a game in hand.

After Mark Osman had headed the Stags in front from Jono Davies’s 13th-minute free kick, Stefan Brown once again took centre stage.

The 22-year-old, whose 15-minute hat-trick on Saturday was declared the fastest ever by an FA Cup substitute, weighed in with two more goals in 37th and 59th minutes.

His first was a shot from inside the area and his second a header from another pin-point Davies delivery.

Frome – promoted as play-off winners alongside Southern One South & West champions Totton – pulled one back in the 83rd minute through Shaun Benison, but it couldn’t take the shine off another inspired display by the Stags.

“It was brilliant, another really professional performance. Happy days!” smiled Totton boss Stuart Ritchie, who started with Brown and Osman up front and Nathan Jack on the left.

New signing Scott Sampson from Blackfield & Langley made his debut at right-back.

The Stags must now keep up the good work at Bedford Town on Saturday.
