AFC Totton’s 15-minute hat-trick hero Stefan Brown has scooped the Budweiser player- of-the-round award for the FA Cup first round proper.
Brown sprang off the bench after 56 minutes against Bradford Park Avenue and wast ed no time writing his name into the competition’s record books as the Stags romped to an amazing 8-1 victory.
He struck in the 64th, 74th and 79th minutes – a whirlwind feat later confirmed as the fastest ever FA Cup hat-trick by a substitute. Brown’s quick-fire treble earned him 38 per cent of the public vote ahead of Luton Town’s Adam Watkins (24 per cent), Bradford City’s Nahki Wells (21 per cent), Fleetwood Town’s Jamie Varney (14 per cent) and MK Dons’ George Williams (3 per cent).
The 22-year-old Portsmouth University student will receive a commemorative player-of-the-round trophy and will be invited to the FA Cup final at Wembley in May as a guest of The FA and Budweiser.
But before that, he has a massive date to look forward to this Sunday (December 4) when Southern Premier heroes Totton host npower League Two outfit Bristol Rovers in a second round match to be screened live on ITV 1 (12.30pm).
