Eastleigh waved goodbye to £4,000 in prize money and a place in the FA Trophy first round proper after losing a tense penalty shootout against lower league Chippenham Town.
Last night's third qualifying round replay ended 1-1 after extra time with Alan Griffin striking first for Chippenham just two minutes in and Jamie Brown levelling on 16 minutes.
The Bluebirds' ex-Eastleigh striker Toby Osman was sent off late in extra time for a second bookable offence.
But it was the Southern Premier underdogs who triumphed 8-7 in the penalty shootout with Graeme Montgomery and Michael Green the unfortunate Eastleigh players to fluff their lines from 12 yards.
Chippenham now travel to league rivals Weymouth, who shocked Havant & Waterlooville 2-0 at Westleigh Park. *Winchester City outsted Bemerton Heath Harlequins from the Sydenhams Premier summit with a 4-1 win at Laverstock & Ford.
Even without injured striker Jamie White, who has an infection of the calf muscle, City still had too much firepower for the managerless Wiltshire hosts as goals by Charlie Smeeton, Dominic Allen (2) and Tom Dunford swept them to victory.
