FORMER Saints striker Mark Hughes is the early frontrunner to become the new manager of Sunderland.
Hughes is odds-on to replace Steve Bruce, who was sacked by the Premier League club yesterday.
Martin O’Neill is also being strongly tipped as a candidate for the post.
Ex-Saints boss Dave Jones is rated as an outsider, with one bookmaker listing him at 34/1.
