HE is ready to rustle up an FA Cup giant killing.
AFC Totton star Mike Gosney works as a chef at TGI Fridays, in Park Gate, Fareham when he is not flying down the wing for the Stags.
But on Sunday he will be one of the main threats to League Two Bristol Rovers as little AFC Totton look to reach the FA Cup third round for the first time in their 125-year history.
Match fever has gripped the town and the match is already a 2,200 sell out.
The game will be screened live on television, but it won’t be the first time winger Mike has been at centre of attention for the cameras.
The 23-year-old stars as Mr October in the official TGI Friday’s 2011 calendar.
Mike said: “A few of the boys at work are coming down to watch the game but they’ve also been giving me stick as people keep wanting my photograph.
“Work have been really understanding with my football but it’s going to get harder to think about anything other than the game as Sunday approaches.”
Mike scored twice in the 8-1 win against Bradford Park Avenue in the previous round.
He was part of the AFC Totton side that played in the FA Vase final at Wembley and attracted interest from AFC Bournemouth as recently as last season.
But an upset against Bristol Rovers would be the highlight of his career.
“The FA Cup’s a massive club competition and playing live on television is obviously bigger than anything I’ve done before,” said Mike, who will have his mum, sister, grandparents and girlfriend supporting him at the Testwood Stadium.
“The attention we’ve been getting is amazing. I didn’t have to buy myself a drink when I went out in Southampton to celebrate getting through to this stage and people keep stopping me in the street to wish me luck.
“We’re not going to get more than 2,000 every week but hopefully we can win a few more fans.”
