Sholing blew the chance to go top of the Southern One South & West last night, beaten 2-1 at home by Yate Town.
Lee Wort, the league’s top scorer, fired the Boatmen into a 39th-minute lead, but they were undone by two second-half goals from Hector Mackie as Yate clocked up their third straight league win.
There were no excuses from Sholing boss Dave Diaper who confessed: “Sometimes you’ve got to put your hand up and say they were the better team.
