SHOLING climbed off the foot of the Southern One South & West with a late 1-0 victory at Wimborne Town last night.
Having been denied by a defiant display of goalkeeping by Magpies’ No. 1 Jason Harvell, the Boatmen finally made the breakthrough after a canny reshuffle by manager Dave Diaper.
Substituting the tiring Lee Wort, he pushed Barry Mason up front and was rewarded with a 90th-minute winner.
Jamie Musselwhite played the ball through and Mason drilled in a first-time shot – enough to lift Sholing a point clear of this Saturday’s opponents Bishops Cleeve who lost 3-0 at Mangotsfield.
