ASHLEY Vickers has been replaced as Blackfield & Langley manager – a month after leading them to the Sydenhams Wessex Premier title. The former Dagenham & Redbridge defender’s assistant, Glenn Burnett, has taken over and has already re-signed ex-Saint Kevin Gibbens for another season, as well as Ross Bottomley and Craig Feeney.
Chairman Sam Davies, who employed Vickers, pictured, at New Forest Care, confirmed: “Ashley has set up a new care business working with disadvantaged kids and can’t now commit to the club every Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday.
“Glenn will do the day-to-day running while Ashley continues to work for us on a consultancy basis.
Blackfield & Langley enjoyed one of the best seasons in their history under Vickers in 2012/13, reaching the FA Cup fourth qualifying round for the first time before clinching their first Wessex title at nearest rivals Alresford Town.
