EASTLEIGH Whites under-11s have won a national tournament for champion clubs.
The side won both the Southampton Tyro League Division 1 and the Southampton Tyro Cup in 2012/13.
As a result, the club were invited to enter the ACES (All Cities Elite Shield) National Tournament in Leicester. It was an invitation only tournament for teams that have won their city’s Tyro League equivalent. And Eastleigh were successful, adding more silverware to cap a stunning season.
After progressing through a qualifying group, Eastleigh beat Sheffield side Beighton Magpies 2-1 in the last eight before winning 2-1 against Leicester champions Oadby in the semi-final.
In the final, the team – coached by former Bashley and Newport (IoW) defender Andy Darnton and managed by Lynne McDonald-Coak – defeated Suffolk champions Felixstowe 1-0.
Squad: James Collins, Travis McDonald-Coak, Connor Blyth, Jack Diaper, Freddie Doswell, Charlie Hitchings, Jacob Phrachai, Jack Darnton, Fletcha Middleton, Renato Bergamaschi, Luke Gray, Jack Gwynne.
