FORMER Saints goalkeeper Scott Bevan has joined Conference South club Havant & Waterlooville after impressing in trial matches against Wycombe Wanderers and Portsmouth.
Born in Southampton, the 33-year-old started his career as an associate schoolboy with his hometown club before turning professional in 1997.
After loan spells with Ayr United, Stoke City, Huddersfield and Wycombe he joined MK Dons in 2004.
And it was during another loan stay with Tamworth that the 6ft 7in stopper’s life and career were turned upside down by a serious kidney injury sustained at Forest Green Rovers.
He had the kidney removed and many thought he would never play football again, but Bevan showed remarkable courage to return to the professional game with Kidderminster, Shrewsbury, Torquay and Bristol Rovers.
A troublesome wrist injury kept him out for the whole of last season and he was released by Rovers at the start of this month.
Bevan had made 42 appearance for The Gas having followed former manager Paul Buckle from Torquay.
