NEWLY-crowned Sydenhams Premier champions Sholing burst through the 100-point barrier with an 8-0 romp over Christchurch last night.
Having clinched the title with a 3-0 win at Moneyfields on Tuesday, Dave Diaper’s FA Vase finalists went goal crazy in their penultimate league game of the season.
Leading scorer Lee Wort warmed up for next Saturday’s trip to Wembley by burying a hat-trick, making it 11 goals scored in his last five games.
In all, the hot-shot now has 55 league and cup goals to his name in 2013/14.
Skipper Byron Mason weighed in with a brace and there were singles from Barry Mason, Nick Watts and Danny Cox as the buoyant Boatmen extended their lead at the top to four points.
Sholing, who have belted 16 goals in their last three league games, conceding none, will be presented with the Wessex trophy ahead of their final league game at home to Graham Rix’s AFC Portchester tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Boatmen’s reserves will be taking on Alresford Town in the Wyvern League Challenge Cup final at Winchester City FC (3pm).
