ALRESFORD Town will host Sherborne in the FA Cup preliminary round on Saturday in good heart.
The Magpies ground out a workmanlike 2-2 draw at Fareham Town on Tuesday, making it five points gained from five away games in the Sydenhams Premier Division.
Alresford seized a ninth-minute lead, Liam Magee sending Jack Hoey through and then pouncing on the rebound.
The Reds levelled ten minutes later through Mark Cotton, whose drive was deflected past diving ’keeper Jarid Hixon.
Fareham’s Ryan Woodford was shown a straight red on the hour but, undaunted, the ten men forged ahead through Ian Humble.
Magee turned from scorer to provider in the 69th minute, crossing low for ex-Saints and Winchester City central defender Mike Byrne - playing only his second game for Alresford - to smash the equaliser low past Luke Douglas in the home goal.
