FOLLAND Sports put the block on AFC Portchester’s revival with a 1-0 Sydenhams Premier win in Hamble last night.
Graham Rix’s Royals arrived at Follands Park buoyed by four straight victories, but were floored by Ashley Jarvis’s second-half strike.
“We were better in the first half, but they controlled the first 15 minutes of the second half, so we scored against the run of play,” said Follands assistant boss Dave Lewis.
“Matty Graham released Jamie Barron on the right, he had a great touch and shot which the goalkeeper parried and Ash got there first and toe-poked it in.”
To compound Portchester’s misery Craig Hardy was later sent off for a second yellow card.
Blackfield & Langley returned to winning ways with an emphatic 5-0 slaying of Verwood – Jake Rowley, Michael Durdey, Danny Young (2) and Danilo Cadete on target.
Lymington Town (Declan McCarthy) were held 1-1 at home by Hamworthy United (Russell Cook), while Dan Hayes’ bullet header deep in stoppage sealed Horndean’s 2-1 win at Fareham.
