THREE players saw red in tonight’s 1-1 Sydenhams Premier Division draw between Folland Sports and Winchester City.
After an uneventful first half, Follands took the lead with a Jamie Barron free-kick.
Winchester levelled when substitute Warren Bentley scored with his first touch of the game, heading home Zach Glasspool’s delivery.
The referee had a busy time of it from then on in, sending off Follands duo Calum Brockway and James Roden – both for two yellows.
In between he gave Winchester’s Joe Wright his marching orders for what he deemed to be a professional foul on Richard Gregory.
“Richard Gregory fell inside the box and it should have been a penalty, which would have changed the game,” said Follands assistant boss Dave Lewis. “And there was a covering player, so it can’t have been a professional foul, but he’s sent the lad off!
“There was barely a bad tackle in the game and all the big decisions the ref got wrong. But, saying that, 1-1 was about the right result.”
Danilo Cadete scored at the end of each half to earn Blackfield & Langley a 2-1 home win over Bournemouth Poppies, while Andy Rinomhota sentenced Whitchurch to a 1-0 defeat at AFC Portchester.
Newport IoW have taken over at the top of the table thanks to a 3-1 home win over Christchurch.
