WHITCHURCH United head for Bemerton Heath Harlequins tonight having reclaimed their place at the Sydenhams Premier summit with a 1-0 win.
Carl Bennett’s side bounced back from last week’s narrow defeat at Portchester by mounting a late smash ‘n’ grab raid against Brockenhurst at Grigg Lane.
It was goalless going into extra time but Brock fatally switched off from a corner, allowing former Romsey striker Danny Phillips to bag a last-gasp winner.
“I’m disappointed, not because of the way we played, but because we should have walked away with all three points,” said Brock boss Pat McManus.
“We dominated but were denied by a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing.
“Coxy (Danny Cox) hit the post, but our goalkeeper Rory Anderson didn’t have a save to make all game.”
