Corhampton’s Neil Raymond has claimed another of amateur golf’s most prestigious titles after winning the St Andrews Links Trophy.
The Hampshire and England ace carded a four-under-par 68 and a three-under-par 69 in his final two rounds over the famous Old Course to top the standings at the ‘Home of Golf’.
His six-under-par total put the Walker Cup hopeful two shots clear of his nearest challengers.
Raymond had been six strokes off the lead at the halfway stage, but stormed up the leaderboard today.
He becomes the first Hampshire golfer since Justin Rose, in 1997, to win the tournament.
Raymond adds the tournament to his victories in the last two English Men’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championships.
