Some of Hampshire’s top amateur golfers will compete for the prestigious Berkshire Trophy this weekend.
The annual 72-hole tournament, open to players with a handicap of plus-one or better, has been won by some fine names over the years, including Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle, Ross Fisher and Gary Wolstenholme.
The 2010 champion, Eddie Pepperell, has also reached some impressive heights, recording a top ten at this year’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and qualifying for the US Open.
Among the Hampshire stars hoping to follow in such footsteps at the Berkshire Golf Club is the 2013 county champion, Stoneham’s Ryan Henley, pictured above, as well as Brokenhurst Manor’s Martin Young and the Army’s Haydn Reay.
Remi Cake, of Meon Valley, is also in the field, as are Liphook’s Obe Ayton and Hayling trio Jamie Mist, Darren Walkley and Ben Wall.
