Newly-crowned US Open champion Justin Rose has changed management companies and joined the agency that represents Tiger Woods, it has been confirmed.

Just a few days on from Hampshire's Rose breaking his major duck with victory at Merion, it has emerged that he has left 4sports & Entertainment, whose golf division is based in London, and signed up with American agency Excel Sports.

A statement from 4sports & Entertainment said: ''Following six successful years at leading sports management agency 4sports & Entertainment AG, Justin Rose will as of this day forward be represented by US-based Excel Sports Management.

''Having risen from 125 in the world rankings when he joined 4sports to current world number three and US Open champion, Rose has chosen to utilise the US resource base of Excel Sports Management for his future representation.''

As well as 14-time major-winner Woods, fellow American players Matt Kuchar, Gary Woodland and Patrick Cantlay are represented by Excel Sports.

Regarding his switch, 32-year-old Englishman Rose, who is competing at this week's Travelers Championship in Connecticut, told reporters: ''The time (is) something kind of ironic, I suppose, with everything that's happened.

''But it's a decision I made quite some time ago and things take some time to figure themselves out, obviously.

''The last few months have been things working themselves out. I'm grateful to 4sports for the good six years I had with them.

''But I felt with me playing so much here in the States and where I felt my game was going, I felt like it was a decision that I wanted to make to move on.''
