Brokenhurst Manor’s Liz Young enjoyed a magnificent first day in the Women’s British Open, at St Andrews.
Young shot a four-under-par round of 68 on the Old Course to put herself into early contention.
The 30-year-old at one point held a share of the lead, after moving to five-under with a birdie at the par-three 11th.
Young dropped her first shots with a double bogey at the difficult 13th, but responded immediately with a birdie at the next.
Another shot went at 16, but again she came back with a birdie straight away, at 17.
