Hampshire star Harry Ellis enjoyed a perfect start to the opening day of the Boys’ Home Internationals, winning a full two points for England in their thumping victory over Wales.

The Meon Valley ace is one of two of the county’s prodigies competing for their country at Forest Pines, in Lincolnshire, this week, with Brokenhurst Manor’s Jack Singh-Brar the other.

Both players helped bring home a full point each from yesterday's morning foursomes.

Ellis teamed up with Wiltshire’s Ben Amor to crush Thomas Williams and Thomas Davies 6&5, while Singh-Brar, 16, joined forces with Derbyshire’s Bradley Moore to thump Alex Matthews and Rhys Jones 4&3.

After the foursomes, England held a commanding 4.5-0.5 lead, and they cruised home in the afternoon singles.

Ellis, who was out last, beat Matthews 3&2, while Singh-Brar lost his match to Kyle Harman 4&3, as England prevailed 10.5-4.5.

England are chasing their third consecutive victory in the annual event. They face Ireland in today's fixture.
