Hampshire's Jack Singh-Brar and Harry Ellis both saw their Boys Amateur Championship bid come to an end in the last 32 of the competition today.
The pair had enjoyed a strong week at Hoylake, advancing through the stroke play stages and then breezing through the first knockout round.
But they were both narrowly edged out in the match play stages this morning, with Meon Valley's Ellis, 17, losing 2&1 to Germany's Dominic Foos, in a rematch of this year's French International Boys Amateur final.
Brokenhurst Manor 16-year-old Singh-Brar lost by one hole to Scotland's Ewen Ferguson.
