EMILY Masson converted a late penalty corner to give Fareham a thrilling 4-3 win over Guildford and fifth spot in South Women’s League Division 3B.
Fareham deserved their seventh win of the season having taken the lead three times in an absorbing match.
They forged ahead with an eighth minute Vicky Field reverse stick shot, but were rocked as Guildford scored twice in three minutes to lead 2-1.
Emma Jones equalised for Fareham, who restored their lead with Field’s second of the match.
By half-time Guildford were back on level terms and early in the second half ought to have converted opportunities to move ahead.
They paid the penalty with Masson’s late winner for Fareham, who are level on 23 points with Trojans, who were held 1-1 by Surbiton.
