Local bragging rights, revenge and thoughts of promotion will all be in the mix tomorrow in a top-of-the-table clash.

Eastleigh want to be the talk of London 3 South-West by the end of play by beating leaders Winchester after losing to them earlier in the season.

But Winch are just as determined to keep their advantage at the SW3 summit as they push on for automatic promotion. They are five points clear and have a game in hand after last weekend’s match at Bognor was postponed.

Winchester make just one change from the strong side that was to face Bognor, experienced prop Danny Waite returning to the front row at the expense of Tom Williams.

Winchester coach Andy Fields is hoping that a month without rugby will not count against his side.

He said: “We were playing some outstanding rugby going into the Christmas break and we could have done without the postponement of the Bognor game last week.

“We will need to be at our best to beat an Eastleigh side that have had an excellent first season in London 3 South West.”

Eastleigh are relishing the opportunity of getting one over their Hampshire rivals and feel they are in a better position now than when the sides last met.

Skipper Russell Smith said: “We are going into this stronger than when we last played them.

“We had a good selection headache at training this week with a handful of first team players going into the twos, but that is the way it is.

“The only team to have beaten Winchester is Ringwood and we do not think they were that special. If Ringwood can beat them, then why can’t we?”

Ellingham & Ringwood got back to winning ways last weekend and sit in second spot – on 44 points with second-placed Weybridge Vandals. The Es should be confident of chalking up a win away at Old Blues while Weybridge are facing a difficult clash away to Purley John Fisher.
