Organisers of the 2015 Rugby World Cup have received more than 80 bids from facilities in over 30 English counties and Wales to be training complexes for the 20 teams.
There will be up to 50 team bases around England and Wales for the tournament - each including an outdoor and indoor training facility, hotel, swimming pool and gym.
The bids have come in from rugby clubs, schools, colleges, universities, local authorities and established training centres, and sites visits are under way ahead of a decision next year.
England Rugby 2015 chief executive Debbie Jevans said: "Team bases will play a pivotal role in the tournament and we are delighted to see such a strong response rate to the search and selection programme.
"With applications from over 30 English counties and within Wales, we can already see the fantastic regional engagement opportunities team bases will provide."
Bids have been received from Wales and Avon, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Cheshire, Cornwall, Devon, Durham, Essex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, London, Greater Manchester, Middlesex, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Staffordshire, Surrey, Sussex, Tyne and Wear, Warwickshire, West Midlands, West Sussex, Wiltshire and Yorkshire.
