Tottonians increased their lead at the top of London 2 South-West by a single point with another resounding home win.
But, once again, it took Totts time to get into their stride – eventually dispatching opponents Old Reigatian 42-19 with a powerful second-half display.
Old Reigatian held a 12-10 half-time lead after two tries and a conversion had cancelled out touchdowns from Totts’ returning second row Ali Ramus and centre Mike Searle.
But it was a different story after the break. The visitors managed to cross the line towards the end of the game with Totts powering their way over at regular intervals.
Mike Searle got the first two to complete his hat-trick, and converted one of them, and Number 8 Dan Stocks also went over the line twice and added two points to one try.
Hooker Nick Jones has been going over the whitewash with regularity in recent games and added another before Ramus got his second of the afternoon.
Totts’ head coach Gavin Williams said: “We hit the ground running and scored early but to give them (Old Reigatian) credit they ran everything and tried to take us on and probably felt that is where they would get more reward.
“They turned around 12-10 up but we made some adjustments at half-time and I was pretty pleased with the second-half performance.
“The encouraging thing is that we can play poorly at times but it is the way the players respond to that during the game that pleases me.”
